GST for online sellers — one GSTR-1 from your marketplace reports
Upload each website's monthly tax report, fix what is flagged, and download one GSTR-1 JSON per GSTIN for the GST portal, with an Excel and a reconciliation sheet.
What it is
If you sell on several websites, each one sends you a monthly tax report in its own layout. GST for online sellers reads them all, adds the sales from your own Flowgento shop and the invoices you entered under Sales documents, and builds one GSTR-1 per GSTIN for the month. You get:
- the GSTR-1 JSON to upload on the GST portal (Returns → GSTR-1 → Prepare offline → Upload),
- a readable Excel in the same tables as the portal, with a summary sheet,
- a reconciliation workbook: totals per website against the website's own totals, and the TCS each website collected from you,
- an error list (Excel) of everything that still needs a decision.
You do not need a Flowgento shop. A free account is enough.
Before you start
- Settings → GST registrations. Add each GSTIN you file for, how you file (monthly, or quarterly under QRMP), and whether your turnover last year was above ₹5 crore (that decides 4 or 6 HSN digits). If you already entered a GSTIN under Settings → GST, it is there.
- Download last month's reports. The upload screen tells you where each report is on each website.
Steps
- GST tools → GST for online sellers → New filing pack. Pick the month.
- Upload. Drag all your files in at once — CSV, Excel or a zip, up to 50 MB each. We recognise each report by its columns and read it in the background; each file shows how many rows it had and which ones were skipped and why.
- A file we do not recognise opens the column matcher: pick which column is the date, the invoice number, the taxable value and so on (we suggest a match). Save it as a template and next month the same layout is read automatically.
- Add your Flowgento sales (one button) if you also sell through your own Flowgento shop or raise invoices in Flowgento.
- Review. Problems are grouped with a plain-English reason and a Fix button. Fix one row, or apply a rule to all of them (for example, set the HSN for every row that has none). Rows outside the month and repeated rows are set aside automatically; you can bring any of them back.
- Totals. Check the totals by table, website, tax rate and state. Each website's total is shown beside the total its own report printed.
- Download the JSON per GSTIN and upload it on the portal. Mark the pack filed. You can re-open it later to amend.
Rules built in
- Place of supply is the state the goods were shipped to. Same state as your GSTIN: CGST + SGST. Other state: IGST. A report that split the tax the wrong way is flagged, and Fix re-splits it.
- Large consumer sales (B2CL): an invoice to another state above ₹1,00,000 is listed one by one. Everything else to consumers is added up by state and rate (B2CS).
- Sales through a website (Table 14) are summarised per website GSTIN. Amazon's GSTIN per state is not in its report; we work it out from Amazon's PAN and you can correct it in Settings.
- Returns, cancellations and refunds become credit notes against the original invoice. A credit note with no invoice we can find is flagged.
- Stock transfers: stock sent to your own GSTIN in another state is a B2B sale to yourself. Stock moved between warehouses under the same GSTIN is left out.
- Shipping charged to the buyer is part of the taxable value.
- HSN summary is split into sales to businesses and to consumers, as the portal asks from May 2025.
- Rates: 0, 5, 18 and 40% (and the special 0.1/0.25/1.5/3/6/7.5%). From 22 September 2025, 12% and 28% are flagged for checking.
- Amounts are rounded per invoice, in rupees with two decimals.
- Due dates: monthly filers by the 11th of the next month; QRMP filers by the 13th after the quarter (the IFF for the first two months of a quarter is optional). Home shows a reminder.
Which reports are checked
The upload screen shows a badge per website: Checked (built and tested against a real report) or Not checked yet (map the columns once). See the list on the public page.
Free utilities
GST tools → Free GST utilities — free on every plan: GSTR-1 JSON to Excel, check a JSON before uploading, merge several Excel files into one sheet, and look up a portal error code in plain English.
Your files
Uploaded files are encrypted before they are stored and only your company can open them. The originals are deleted after 30 days (change it in Settings → GST registrations). The rows read from them stay in your account so you can re-open a month.
Plan
Free plan: 500 report rows a month from 2 websites. Paid plans: no limit. Your use shows on Settings → Billing.
Good to know
- Flowgento prepares the return from the reports you upload. Check it, or have your accountant check it, before you file.
- E-invoices (IRN) are not created here.
