Parties (customers and suppliers)

Who you trade with, their GSTIN and state, balances, and each party's ledger.

What it is

A party is anyone you invoice, pay or receive money from. Shop customers are added by themselves when their first invoice posts; dropship suppliers when you record their first bill. Add others — B2B buyers, landlords, service providers — yourself.

Steps

  1. Accounting → Parties → Add party. Name, type, GSTIN if registered (checked for format; the state is read from it), PAN, address, phone, email.
  2. Opening balance: what they owed you (or you them) on the day you started keeping books here. It is posted with the opening entry in Settings.
  3. Ledger: open a party to see every entry, the running balance and the date filter; download it as Excel for them.

Good to know

A GSTIN must agree with the state you type — the first two digits are the state code (27 = Maharashtra, 29 = Karnataka…). The form refuses a mismatch.
