Export to Tally, Zoho, Busy, Marg, Vyapar — and import back
Import-ready files from your ledger for a date range, how to import each, and the generic pack any CA accepts; plus the import screen that reads a journal CSV back.
What it is
Your CA may keep the books in Tally, Zoho Books, Busy, Marg or Vyapar. Accounting → Export builds a file for each from the same ledger, for the dates you pick, and shows a preview first: how many vouchers and lines, and that debits equal credits.
Steps
- Pick the date range (default: this financial year). Read the preview.
- Press Download on the tool your CA uses. Follow the *How to import* line under it.
- Generic accountant pack: four CSVs (journal, ledgers, accounts, parties) — most CAs accept this directly.
What each file is
- Tally Prime — XML in Tally's Vouchers Import envelope; ledgers (with group and GSTIN) are created first, then the vouchers. Tested against the format; please import into a copy of the company first.
- Zoho Books — three CSVs in Zoho's import layouts: contacts, chart of accounts, manual journals. Import in that order.
- Busy / Marg / Vyapar — a clean Excel with the fields those tools' import screens ask for (date, voucher type, number, ledger, Dr/Cr, amount, narration, GSTIN). Their exact official templates could not be verified offline; map the columns at import time, or hand the sheet to your CA.
Import vouchers
Accounting → Import vouchers reads a journal CSV with columns voucher_number, date, type, narration, account, party, party_gstin, debit, credit, description. Preview shows every voucher with its totals and flags unbalanced ones (they are skipped), new account names (created under Indirect Expenses) and new parties. Then Post. A voucher number already imported is skipped, so a file can be re-run safely.
Round trip
Export the generic pack, import journal.csv back: the same vouchers, lines and totals — this is tested on every build.
