Expenses

Quick entry for rent, electricity, courier, packaging, salaries, software — with the receipt, GST and a monthly repeat.

What it is

The running costs of the business, typed in one line each. Expenses lower your profit; GST on an expense becomes input tax credit when you tick Claim ITC.

Steps

  1. Accounting → Expenses. Date, category, what it was for, amount before GST, GST rate.
  2. Paid from: the cash or bank account the money left. Choose *Not paid yet* and a party if you owe it.
  3. Attach the receipt (PDF or photo). Tick Repeats every month for rent or subscriptions: a fresh entry posts itself on the same day each month (you can reverse one from the day book if a month differs).
  4. Record expense. The list below shows the period's entries and the total by category.

Staff

A staff member with the *Record expenses* key sees only this screen. They can attach receipts but open them only with the *See accounting reports* key.
