Moving your shop in (imports from Shopify, WooCommerce, Tally, Excel)
Bring products, customers, suppliers, opening stock or past orders in from a file — preview, run in the background, undo.
Three steps
- New import → choose *what* (products, customers, suppliers, opening stock, past orders) and *where the file is from* (Shopify CSV, WooCommerce CSV, Tally XML/Excel, the Flowgento template, or any Excel/CSV). Upload the file (up to 10 MB, 20,000 rows).
- Match the columns. We recognise the standard Shopify, WooCommerce and Tally column names and our own template; anything we did not recognise you pick from a dropdown, or leave blank to skip. Fields marked * are needed.
- Preview and run. The first 50 items are shown with any problems. Run import works in the background in batches of 200 rows — you can leave the page. Items with problems are skipped and listed in the error report (CSV); everything else goes in.
Templates
Each kind has an Excel template (Download the … template on step 1) with the column names, an example and a *Columns* sheet explaining each one. For products, rows with the same handle are one product with several variants (Size / Colour…).
What each kind does
- Products — creates the product in its category (created if missing), with price, MRP, GST %, HSN, SKU, barcode, brand, description, image URL (kept on the product; files are not downloaded) and variants. Stock in the file goes into the stock ledger as an *import* movement with the cost you gave (₹0 when none). Products already in the shop are not changed — a SKU that exists is refused. Imported products are hidden from the store until you tick *Show imported products in the store*.
- Customers — name, phone, email, GSTIN, address (saved when complete). An opening balance or a GSTIN also creates the customer in the books (Accounting → Parties). A phone or email already in the shop is skipped.
- Suppliers — parties of kind *supplier* in the books, with GSTIN and opening balance (what you owe them).
- Opening stock — product by SKU or exact name (variant by "M / Navy" or the variant SKU), quantity and cost per unit. Same rule as Accounting → Stock → Opening stock: a product that already has ledger movements is skipped — adjust it instead.
- Past orders / invoices — history only: each order lands as *delivered*, *cancelled* or *returned* with an Imported badge, its original number kept as the reference, totals as given. No GST invoice is raised and your invoice numbering is untouched; imported orders stay out of the GST sales register. Open orders (pending, processing) are refused — place those in the shop.
Undo (admin)
Undo this import removes exactly what that import created: products with no orders since, customers with no orders, parties with no vouchers, the imported orders. Stock the import added is reversed with new ledger movements (the ledger is never edited). Anything that has been used since is kept and listed.
Tally notes
Export masters as XML (Gateway of Tally → Export) or the Stock Summary / Ledger report as Excel. Stock items map to products or opening stock (Opening Balance → quantity, Opening Rate → cost); ledgers under Sundry Debtors / Creditors map to customers / suppliers. In Tally XML a customer's debit balance is negative — we flip it so the opening balance reads as "owed to you".
Common problems
- *Selling price is missing* — the price column is not mapped or has text in it (₹ and commas are fine).
- *SKU already exists* — imports add, they do not update. Edit that product in Products, or remove the SKU from the row.
- *Status is not closed history* — only completed / cancelled / returned orders are imported.
- *has variants — name one* — opening stock for a product with sizes needs the variant column.
