Connect your own domain
Open your shop on your own web address (like myshop.in) — Test mode first, hidden from Google; Live when you are ready, with old links moved for you.
What it does
Your shop normally lives at flowgento.ai/store/your-shop. With your own domain it opens at myshop.in instead — same products, same cart, same orders, same dashboard.
- Test mode — the shop works on your domain, but Google is told not to show it, and flowgento.ai stays your main address. Use it to check everything first.
- Live — your domain becomes the shop's main address. Google, your emails, WhatsApp messages, share links and order links all use it, and every old flowgento.ai shop link moves to it with a permanent redirect.
Where
Online shop → Your domain — https://flowgento.ai/ecommerce/domain (shop admins only).
Before you start
- You must own the domain (bought from GoDaddy, Hostinger, BigRock, Namecheap…).
- Find out who runs its DNS. The page tells you after the first check ("yours is Hostinger"). It is usually where you bought the domain, or Cloudflare if you moved it there.
- Your email on that domain keeps working. Never change or delete MX or TXT records — they are your email.
Steps
- Type your domain (for example
myshop.in) and press Connect in Test mode.
- Typing www.myshop.in makes the www address the main one; either way the other address moves to it automatically.
- The page shows the exact records to add, with Copy buttons. Usually:
| Type | Name | Points to | Proxy | |---|---|---|---| | CNAME | @ | shops.flowgento.ai | Proxied (orange cloud) | | CNAME | www | shops.flowgento.ai | Proxied (orange cloud) |
- Add them at your DNS company (steps below). Delete the old A / AAAA / CNAME record with the same name first — write down what it was, in case you want to go back.
- Wait about 15 minutes, then press Check now. The page also checks by itself every 5 minutes for 48 hours.
- The status goes Waiting for the DNS records → Records found — checking → Getting the security certificate → Active. The https certificate is free and automatic.
- Open your domain and look around: products, cart, sign-in, checkout.
- When you are happy, press Go Live…, read the note, and confirm.
On Cloudflare
- dash.cloudflare.com → your domain → DNS → Records.
- Delete the old A/AAAA record for
@and the old record forwww(note them first). - Add record → Type CNAME, Name @, Target shops.flowgento.ai, Proxy status Proxied → Save. Cloudflare allows a CNAME on @ (it "flattens" it).
- Again for www.
- Check the domain's Overview says Active. If it says *Pending nameserver update*, your domain still uses its old DNS company: at the registrar (for example GoDaddy) change the nameservers to the two Cloudflare names shown there, or add the records at the old DNS company instead.
On GoDaddy, Hostinger or BigRock (without Cloudflare)
These companies do not allow a CNAME on the root (myshop.in). Make www your main address and let them forward the root:
- Connect
www.myshop.inhere (type it with www). - Add CNAME
www→shops.flowgento.ai(delete the oldwwwrecord first). - Forward the root to
https://www.myshop.in, permanent (301):
- GoDaddy: My Products → your domain → DNS → Forwarding → Add Forwarding → https://www.myshop.in, Permanent (301). - Hostinger: hPanel → Domains → your domain → Redirects → https://www.myshop.in, 301. - BigRock: Manage Domain → Domain Forwarding → https://www.myshop.in.
- Press Check now. It turns Active as soon as
www.myshop.inreaches us — the root follows through the forwarding.
Want the root itself as your address? Either move the DNS to Cloudflare (free) and use the Cloudflare steps, or choose "With an A record" (A @ → 187.127.146.134); Flowgento then installs the certificate on its server, a one-time step by the Flowgento team.
A sub-domain such as shop.myshop.in works at any company with one CNAME: shop → shops.flowgento.ai.
Moving from an old website — the redirect map
If your domain had a website before, its old page addresses are in Google and in people's bookmarks. The Redirect map on the same page sends each one to the right page of your shop:
- Read the old sitemap (type the old site's address — the sitemap is found by itself), or paste a list, or upload a CSV (first column the old address; an optional second column is the new path, like
/category/shirts). - Each old address is matched to a product, category or page by its name. Anything without a match goes to the closest category or the home page — never to a "page not found".
- Look at the weak matches first, press change to pick the right page, and tick Reviewed.
- Press Activate the map. It works only while your domain is Live.
What changes for your customers when you go Live
- They need to sign in once more on the new address (sign-in is kept per web address, for their safety). Their account, orders, points and saved addresses are all still there.
- Their cart and wishlist are in their account, so they come back after signing in. A guest basket from the old address does not move.
- If they had order notifications switched on, they must allow them again on the new address (the browser keeps that permission per address).
- If they installed your shop as an app on their phone, they can install it again from the new address.
Payments
Razorpay checkout works on your domain. If you use live Razorpay keys and Razorpay asks for your website, add your domain in the Razorpay dashboard (Account & Settings → Business website details).
Going back
- Switch back to Test mode — Google and your links go back to flowgento.ai within a minute.
- Remove domain — the shop stops answering on it. Put your old DNS records back if you want your old site again.
If something is wrong
| The page says | What to do | |---|---| | *still points to … — that is your old host* | The old record is still there, or you added the new one at a different DNS company than the one in use. | | *Waiting for the DNS records* after hours | Check the record name (@ or www, not the full domain on most DNS screens) and that the value is exactly shops.flowgento.ai. | | *CAA record blocks the certificate* | Delete the CAA record, or add one allowing letsencrypt.org, pki.goog and google.com. | | *Released because the DNS records were not found within 48 hours* | Add the domain again once the records are in place. | | *already connected to another shop* | Contact Flowgento support from the dashboard. |
